my shifter has been giving me all sorts of issues lately so i checked it and all the bushings were destroyed/worn. tomorrow i plan on replacing all of them and adjusting my shifter cables. my question is a very simple one.

you know how they sell those nice metal bushings for the tranny end of the cables but people use skate bearings as a free mod? can i use skate bearings for the bushings on my shifter base too or do i actually need those to be the real deal?

looking at pics of the metal bushings they sell for both tranny and shifter base they look pretty much the same so thats why i was wondering if skate bearings would work for BOTH the same also. clarify this for me before i go out on a wild journey. CAR IS A 91 GSX

So on my 2g I used skate bearings for the cable ends you may have to grind/file the bearing a tiny bit to get them in but they have to be in there tight so dont get crazy. For my shifter base I took out the rubber bushings and got a bunch of washers that I stacked up and made about the same thickness as the stock rubber ones. The washers must be rounder then the shifter base holes. This was on my 2g so IDK if it will help but it worked for me.

I have the symborski kit on my shifter base and I never looked back definitely worth every penny
check it out at Mach V no one else except for JNZ tuning sells them. but Mach V sells for cheaper. You will never regret it. the way I've seen it these cars get mad when you do shortcuts
