The intake manifold support bracket?

I dont use it cause it dead weight, it is a pain in the ass to put it back on with the head on the car, and makes removing the head easy if it is not there.

It is there to help support the intake mani when you are using the lift bracket on the throttle body and push the motor under the car in a accident.

thats weird because every time i started it, the started would get hung up on the flywheel making a nasty noise. i put a a washer on each starter bolt to bring the starter away from the tranny and it cured it. it's been like this for a year now with no problems since.

after i did it have had no problems at all. it's an oem replacement starter from the factory. no drivetrain, clutch, flywheel, tranny, or starter problems what so ever. if it wasn't that i don't know what it was. like the OP stated, does anybody else not run that spacer plate????
the washers where about 2mm thick. actually about the width of the the spacer plate.

I just rebuilt my engine v.2 ( first time spun a rod bearing ), and I tried to use all the parts that came with the car. I used the sheet metal piece just because I figured since it came off the car, it should probably go back on. And it doesn't really weigh anything.

But the plate I am curious about is the one the covers the flywheel at the bottom half. Is that necessary to put on? My car didn't come with one when I bought it. Sorry to change the subject. I figured all it was for was kind of like a dust shield for the flywheel and clutch. But I have been wrong before.

the "sheet metal" between the engine and tranny is the starter plate and the one on the bottom portion of the tranny is the flywheel inspection plate. I have always ran both of them. If you need a new one SBR sells them.

Well I dont have mine in because I simply forgot it when putting the engine and tranny back in, never have any problems, i asked the same question a while back with some replies of people who dont have it either with no problems
