Setting Base timing for exhuast cam retarded one tooth

Why are you attempting to set ignition timing when mechanical timing is wrong?

It's a temporary fix until I can get the cam gears aligned. But for now I need to get the base timing close to correct as possible because I took off the CAS for unrelated issue. This is when I noticed the marks were not aligned.

I'm just trying to figure out if I have to make up for the offset and get it around 10 or 0 or just keep it at 5.

Wait...what? Are you talking about degreeing and using adjustable cam gears, or at you talking about just setting base timing with getting the cam gear marks aligned? Huge difference.

Do you have an adjustable 1g CAS or are you talking about a variety of the 2g CAS?

If a 1g CAS, then you need to install it, make sure it's not 180° out, and then set it using a timing light. You can put it in the middle of the adjustment range to get the car fired up and up to temp.

If a 2g CAS, then there's not adjustability in the ignition timing and you have a problem with the damper if it doesn't align with the T mark (car off and engine at TDC) or 5° BTDC mark (car on, engine up to temp, and using a timing light).

I have a 1g CAS. The exhaust tooth is retarded by one. Non adjustable timing gears (OEM). The crank timing is good. The car runs the way it should.

I'm just trying to figure out where to set the base timing (the notch on the damper to the timing cover) with an exhuast cam retarded one tooth (rotated counterclockwise from the intake cam)
