i have a 1.8 and it just started doing something new.
i hooked up some fancy fog lights striaght to the battery like the instructions on the lights said andou a week to 2 weeks ago. 3 days later my alternator went, so i called up the junkyard and got an alternator, and it ran good again. yesterday after worki drove home stopped at a family members house about 11 miles from work, about a quartermile from home, on my drive home my power steering went. got home popped the hood and saw i had no alternator belt. drove it 4 miles to my uncles shop with no power steering and the heat gauge threw the roof. parked it over night. earlier today i put a new alternator belt on it, just a half hour ago coming home from work, it ate the brand new belt. i turned the a/c on and the belt was gone. got it home and the oil or anti-freeze was boiling inside the engine i could hear it from the drivers seat. why is my car eating belts? is it mitsubishi? my V6 Lebaron was a mitsubishi motor and it ate serpintines every month. im just so confused, and have to be at work in 8 hours. can someone help me with any info or input

thanks

kenny

i saw the alterenator belt post just now, and if the pulley had seperated my uncle would have told me cause he was with me the whole time when i was putting the new one on

oh and before it ate the new belt i had a yellow dash light on, it was like slotted and with a little thing on top like a jail cell or something what is it and what does it mean?

The Lincoln memorial waning light indicates low coolant level, do not drive your car again without the alternator belt because it also drives the water pump and ps pump pullies. You're overheating because your water pump isn't functioning.
