Serious Problems.

1991 Eagle Talon TSi FWD

So I went to San Diego, dad didnt start my car for 2 weeks.
Right when I get home, I drive to the store, after coming out, I tried to start my car, makes clicking sounds in rear panels.
Jumped it, headlight now out, drove for 1/2 hour, turned off, Wont start up, clicking sound again.

Jumped it yesterday and drove, check engine light comes on, tries to die but keeps driving, and stereo stops for a second every once in while.

I dont know what it is, but I have to get to work on monday. Please help.

Sounds like your alternator is bad.

Jump the car and test voltage at the battery, it should be between 13 (at the lowest... ideally 13.5) and 15V with the car running.

If the voltage is in the 12V range or lower, your alternator is bad or the charge is not reaching your battery.

Test voltage at the output terminal of the alternator. If you only get battery voltage (12V) it is bad.

Also make sure to clean the battery terminals and check the connections at the alt and where the grounds are. Then coat everything with di-electric grease. You can buy a large can container or tube at NAPA that is a much better value than the little CRC tubes at most part stores. Corrosion in a circuit can cause the alt. to not charge. Likely the alt is going. If you test it like the above post suggests, also place a load on the system while testing to see the alt. response. The headlights, r defrost, eat up some juice . Seeing you are running a NT motor with a turbo, I wouldnt be surprised if your rings are worn and you are burning oil. Turbo seals could also cause this. A compression test should be the first thing you do.

Also 1GDSM_Junior try not to do that. Admins on here dont like it when you ask about your car on someone elses thread. If you have a problem, just ask. Better yet, use the search button, you will find TONS of threads regarding burning/spitting oil

ok sorry about that,and it never smoked when i got the car it just started smoking after it caught fire on me and i had to replace the harness on it.
