So, As the title states, I have a seriel comm error issue. I put a 1990 eprom ecu in my 1993, Switched pins 6 and 14, And the logger is reading very sporadically. Everything is flashing, The values are not correct, And I get the serial comm error.

I switched back the pins, Put the 93 ecu back in, And everything is fine on the logger. I did some searching around the site and found that this is a semi common issue with the 1990 ecu's, It doesnt seem to effect all 90's, But there a a bunch that it does.

I have an analog volt meter at my shop which I will use to see if the ecu is alive, But I am at a loss otherwise. I just bought this ecu from a guy in the classifieds who had it at ecmtuning right before I got it, I verified that it was there. Thomas Dorris from ECMtunung said he bech tested it then put it in the shop car and it was good, So I dont think it is the computer.

I read that it may have something to do with auto on?(Auto-Log?) What is the proper "bps" for the ecu? Would the ecu clock have anything to do with it? Any insight will be appreciated!

Thanks.

RESOLVED!

I figured it out today. I had to jump pins 10 and 12 of the data link behind the connector, So when I plug the logger cable in, Both wires were grounded going into the logger cable.

For whatever reason, The car ran like crap and the logger was reading crazy readings if I just plugged it in. The strange thing is that it worked fine on the 93 ecu without jumping the wires. Well, Whatever, It works now.
