Seattle short throw shifter by Paul

i found a thread related to this yesterday. apparently this guy makes good short shifters for 3000GTs. he replied to my email saying that it is not made specifically for eclipse but he did sell one to an eclipse owner and it worked.

anyone has experience with Paul's shifter? does it work "as is" with 97 eclipse?

I just installed it 2 weeks ago. I had a B&M short shifter. The throw with the B&M was 3.75 inches. NOw it's a wapping 2 inches. You have to pull on the shifter a little harder then normal but it sure makes the shifts quick. It took about an hour to install. There is some side to side play that you have to get used to when shifting. But after you get used to it, it works fine. It dropped the height about an inch also. It also feels like the shifter is moved forward slihgtly, but I think that is only because of how short the throw is.

What you're saying is you switched from a B&M to the seattle shifter from Paul? Why did you do that?

You don't have problems with the shifter hitting anything? Paul mentioned the previous user had issues with that.

I'd exepct to use more force for shifting since you have less leverage.. but is this something that's going to make my right arm bulkier than my left? Also, can you explain the side-to-side motion you talked about? How is that different from the normal wiggle you get in the shifter?

I switched because it is a shorter throw. The B&M was from 1st to 2nd 3.75inches. The seattle shifter is 2 inches from 1st to 2nd. It takes a little more strength then the B&M but it's quite manageable.
With the shifter in gear it has some side to side motion.
The shifter has a different feel to it. You have to get use to the side to side movement. I don't even notice that it's there unless I decide to move the shifter side to side while it's in gear. It doesn't affect the shifting.

It does have more wiggle to it.

It does not hit anything.
