Hey guys, im in need of some advice. I recently got it into my head to paint parts of my interior door panels. So i taped it off, used plastic primer and then applied the top coat.....
Only my paint job looks like crap reguardless. The tape must not of been on well enough (first time doing this kinda thing) and i ended up with parts sticking out a bit to far here and there.

My question is this, how would you go about cleaning up the lines? i tried paint thinner with q tips...the results were less than stellar.....i think it actually ate through the top layer of the plastic because now i have a light grey area on the pannel....

So can this be cleaned up, or should i just look for another set of door panels? And anybody know where to get the nicer door panels like the ones in a GS anyways, mine are just the crappy one piece plastic ones.

As always any advice is apreciated, thanks.

well if you over painted your tape lines or whatever and used paint thinner to try and remove it..... u might as well get new door panels or try painting the rest or somtin cuz paint thinner is a stripper and it did just that, stripped the color away you cant get that back unless u paint again. its like if u spill bleach on a color shirt.... ur fuked. sorry

Yeah that sux dude. Its ok, dont be discouraged. I would say just paint it all again from the ground up! I mean if you are planning on getting new panels anyway, why not try and paint the old ones again first? You might as well, and maybe youll end up liking it and wont have to buy new ones. Or go buy some sheets of vinyl and start wrapping anything you can. You still have options, but its time to get creative. Good luck!

I have the crappy all plastic ones as well, So I painted mine all a metallic Blue and now I am adding a black vinyl to seperate it, I will post a pic for you when I finish!

This thread was from 3 years ago dude. I doubt anybody needs pics anymore.

If i were this guy i would have just got new door panels. Hopefully thats the route he took, it would have saved him alot of time and agrivation.
