Wondering how you install a three speed SS scatter shield on a 2g awd. I was under the impression that it would just bolt on but it doesn't. There is a huge coolant line that runs from the water pump above the tranny, that doesn't leave enough room for a scatter shield in between. Any suggestions from anyone else who's installed one? or anyone?

I haven't installed one myself, but Slowboy sells the same brand you have. Give them a call and I'm sure someone there can answer that question for you. 724.349.8417

Your shield should have a cut out in it to clear the water pipe. It should look like the one in the attachment. The other two pictures show it in place. You may have to move the pipe slightly out of the way. Each car is slightly different.

If you are still not sure send me a picture of the shield you have and I will tell you if you have the right one.

So I'm curious about the scatter shield install. I've searched around but been unable to find the answer.

Do you need to get new hardware (longer bolts) to install the scatter shield? To install this, it uses the same bolts that currently hold the bellhousing to the block right? But if you run them through the scattershield, the bellhousing, then into the block, will they be too short? Can you reuse the hardware or should you get new (longer) bolts?

As far as install goes it's really quite simple, the stock bell housing bolts work fine. I even used two washers on the bell housing and then lined up the scattershield, then put the bolts through to seperate it from that coolant pipe. Even after the washers I still felt very comfortable with the thread engagement of the stock bolts.

The factory bolts are plenty long enough to use. The included grade 8 bolt, washer and nut are for the unused starter hole in the rear of the bellhousing.

Well I just installed the scattershield on my 2g awd. and my problem is that the lower waterpipe hose gets pinced badly with the shield on. My options I guess is taking off the shield or grinding that part away witch would be worthless to have on. I dont know if anyone else ran into this problem I have searched but could find no results for the problem I have. If anyone knows how to fix this I would appreciate the help thanks.

Does you shield look like the one in my picture attached above?

Its the exact shield you have but I see you have the 7 bolt in there still I assume, cuz of your water pipe outlet is?

Can you fix your picture links so I can see them. All the current 2G AWD/FWD shields look like the one in the picture. Ignore that is called a 7 bolt sheild.

I bought this from road race a couple of months ago. at the time I had my 7 bolt in there still in, and figured I needed the shield for the 2g tranny I had no idea that this would be a forthcomming problem. Its the exact shield I have on the tranny now if I need the 6 bolt shield then I guess i'll get It but I don't know if it will fit on my tranny.

You have the right shield, as long as you have a 2G trans the engine block type doesn't matter anymore.

The water pipes are different on the two blocks but this model will fit both.

If you need to grind a little material a way or move the pipe slighty go ahead and do so. If you don't want to do that PM me I will swap out the shield for you. I will say this that the water pipes all sit slighly different and some times a little massaging is needed to make it fit perfect no matter whcih shield I send you.

The water pipe is soft. It massages (changes shape) very easy.

tsiawd98, listen I thought I was going to have the same problem. My solution and it is very simple and the materials are readily available. Grab two or three washers and "sandwich" them between the bell housing and the tab for the bolt on the scatter shield.

1. Insert stock bell housing bolt into scattersheild
2. Place 2 or 3 washers on end of bellhousing bolt
3. Insert bell housing bolt to bell housing, tighten

This separates the scattersheild from the bellhousing so there is no contact with the water pipe.

I post up some pictures but I cannot get an angle at it to show you.
