Could probably go fishing on the ocean. you live real close don't you? all we have are lakes, and lots of them.
 
Knows I know that but look on a map of northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba, I bet we got them beat.
 
Should know it's probably because of the low elevation, at least that's how Manitoba and northern SK is. It's so flat and low the water never leaves.

Should know it is because during the ice age this area was covered by a glacier. When the glacier would shift and move, jagged chunks of ice and dirt on the bottom would dig little pockets that became lakes. The red river valley that runs through from south-central Minnesota through Fargo and Grand Forks, into Canada was a river that the water flowed through when the glacier melted.
