safe to swap airbag?

I was wondering if its safe to swap a airbag from a 95 eclipse NT to a 97 eclipse NT. The reason is because I am selling the 97 eclipse and the airbag cover is bent inward(looks like something pushed on it with some force). So I wanted to swap it out with a airbag from my 95 NT. Is this safe to do?

call up a mitsu dealer and make sure they are the same part numbers, and remember that you need to disable the air bag system, disconnect battery for at least 3 hours, i dono how long the dsms are with still having power for their batterys so 3 hours is a good number... gl hope it swaps.

how do you disable the airbag system? or having the battery disconnected for over 24hrs is fine?

Disconnect battery for a few hours, disconnect SRS ECU plug (if you want to be sure) and then swap airbag. When you hook everything up together, the SRS light in your cluster may come on and you'll need to have the system reset at your dealership.

Always carry the airbag facing away, and make sure you ground yourself before you handling it.

Airbags are bombs, and are always unsafe. They are loaded cannons pointed at your face when installed. The parts you're asking about will fit. Proceed with extreme caution if you think it's necessary. I'd sell the part uninstalled and let the new owner roll his own dice.
