Hey guys,

So I have been reading up a ton on the process of tuning with an SAFC and how it actually works. I have just gotten my car together and got the low throttle settings dialed in pretty well but for some reason when im in boost, my AFR's wont go lower than 12.5-13.0. As soon as I see this I let off the throttle so I wont do any damage. I started the settings at -22% and have brought them all the way up to about -8 to -10% at the 3k 4k ranges and all across the board at that point, but im not even taking it past 4k because of my AFR's. List of mods below:

1G GST
16g "ebay" turbo @ 12psi
550's
2g maf
MTX-L Wideband
FMIC
OEM Fuel Pump

My question is - with a stock fuel pump am i even capable of running 12 psi on a 16g turbo with 550cc injectors? I have a wally 255 but havent had the opportunity to install it yet. I just wanted to get comfortable with tuning with the SAFC on stockish boost before i pump up the jams. LOL

Is your OEM fuel pump at least re-wired?

I ran the 2g oem pump with a 16g on the 450cc stock injectors for many years at 18psi using an AFC for tuning. I have no idea if the 1g pump differs but I figured I'd offer this in case it helps with confidence in your setup. The AFC should be usable with this setup assuming your fuel pump is up to the task.

The 550's and 2G MAF are almost cancelling each other out. Bring your Hi's closer to 0 and try that.

I read a bunch of mixed up information about this when it came to tuning with a 2g MAF in a 1g. Half of the info said i wouldnt need much tuning until i start upping the boost.... the other said still start off the high values around -20....so obviously this is a problem. Should I set every NePoint to 0?

It is not rewired unfortunately

What is the delay in the rewire? Only takes about 20 minutes, then another 20 to swap out the stocker for the wally. Do that, and consider an AFPR and let her eat.

LOL i know i sound like a lazy f**k but ive been putting the rest of the car together. Ive read the how to for the rewire, and literally have the wally sitting in a box in the car, so theres really no excuse. At this point im just kinda wondering what the stock pump is capable of?

I doubt the install will be 20 mins, cause stuff like that always turns into a nigh long project due to breaking screws and mishaps. :|

Just did a quick pull with it with the high throttle settings at +4 and still at 13.5-14.0. Im going to do the pump install and rewire and see how that effects it. It also feels like i have a boost leak somewhere cause my idle is pretty garbage right now. I feel like im trying to jump the gun right now so im gonna just clear up the little issues i have and then give it another go when finished.

Update:

Did the rewire and have the low throttle settings pretty dialed in. AFR's switching steady between 14.0-15.0 during cruise. But now heres the kicker.... at WOT - in order for me to get the afr's to 11.5:1 my settings are at +28!!!!!!!!! WTF! fuel pressure has to be shit, so im gonna get my AFPR and do the wally install shortly then i will comment back. BTW this is only at wastegate pressure :/ 10-11psi max

I have a similar setup. '91 tsi, 2g maf, RC 550cc. I have pulled 1 degree of base timing, set FP at 43, and am at 18psi on a 14b. AF's seem to hold great, actually rich in all but WOT high rpm areas. I'm at +8% from 3k up on LoThr, and -8% from 3600 rpm richening up to +4% @ 7k on the HiThr. Seems to work well over all. Just get random knock, which I think is more about tip in adjustments needed. Not sure if this would work for your setup, or even how technically right it is, but after number crunching the changes for the air flow of the 2g maf, inj change, and boost changes, it seems like a good base to start with.
