ottawa,
What is the difference between the SAFC and SAFCII and if the SAFCII is supposed to be newer and better than the SAFC than why is the SAFC more expensive than the SAFCII.

thanks

SAFC 2 is better because you have more rpm bands and you can set the bands where you want instead of them being factory preset.

Don't buy a Maf translator!

On the topic of the SAFC's, especially the SAFC2, do we need to get wideband O2 sensors for it to work properly or will the factory sensor suffice?

Out of the box neither does anything with an O2 sensor, wide or narrowband.

If you asking about tuning the SAFC, then having a wideband would improve your ability.

You don't need wideband o2 to run an S-AFC correctly.

And greycar -- what's wrong with a Maf-T setup? I'd actually prefer that to an S-AFC(II).

This is why I hate the MAFT. You are removing a mas air that really imposes no problem at all with tuning. Install a 2G mas and a AFC and you'll have the best setup for the money. A 2g mas flows close to a 3inch pipe, THE SAME as the MAFT. It is all where you are putting the restriction, before your turbo, or in the direct stream of your now compressed dense air in your IC pipe. HUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMM before the turbo is LOGICALLY better. You won't ever see a WRC car or any rally car put the restrictor after the turbo inlet, because it will cause more airflow loss than if you put it before your turbo in your NON COMPRESSED AIRSTREAM.

MY 2cents

Its you money, tuning a AFC is really not that hard, oh yeah but the MAFT will let you be a true ricer because now you can get the PPPFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTT sound out of your BOV

OH geez, enuf with the ricer BS. Just curious where you're finding SAFC1's cheaper then the 2's? The only real function I like better about the SAFC2 is the fact that you can program in 2 different settings. So say you do a Street Tune, you can save that, and then do a Race Tune, and save that as well. So you can be on your Street Tune, and then go to the track and switch to the other settings. I got an SAFC2 because I got it for real cheap. I'd say just get whichever is cheaper, because they both work well.
