someone told me there's a how-to with pics on how to install an 88-91 mazda RX7 rear swaybar on a 1g fwd DSM... i search all around using at least 10 different searches and couldnt come up with anything. does anyone here have the link/info?

Thanks,
Matt

Why would someone do this? Probably because they think that the Mazda bar is thicker, cheap, and fits. Now, I have no idea if any of those three things are true, but it's the obvious answer to your rather silly question.

And Joey: for someone with 2 warning, your post wasn't much better.

Now someone confirm or deny the poor guy's question (while everyone else remains silent).

The question is more than just whether it can be clamped to the car. Since all swaybars mount at two co-axial points and a variety of brackets are available, it's almost a given that the bar can be clamped to the car. But that doesn't mean it will fit. To fit, the ends of the swaybar must be near to the OE locations and the bends (if any) in the bar between the two mounting points must not hit anything.

i pm'ed the dude and he didn't even give me a link this time either, just said 'look for the pics @ dsm tuners'.

very helpful man, very helpful. :toobad:

I still cant find the pics by searching either. i think he said he used the front rx7 SB.

Wait a second. Am I tripping or is this a joke? As far as I understand the 1g fwd rear suspension, it doesn't allow any roll anyway (other than maybe some flex in the system, since it can't be infinitely stiff). As far as I can tell, it's a solid axle with solidly mounted trailing arms on each side. I don't see how that allows for roll. It's linked to the chassis with a Panhard rod to locate it laterally. Without that the bushings would tear and slide out under lateral load. The funny thing is that this also causes the rear suspension to travel to the left by a small amount under compression. That's what I understand of it.

Besides, it's pretty easy to induce lift throttle oversteer on 1g fwd's already, not sure why someone would want more oversteer
