hey guys,
i need help. i just bought a 98 gsx with 50,000 miles. its eating up gas like crazy.half a tank in about 60 hwy miles. its completely stock. ive searched all over these forums and no one seems to have the same problem as me. no cel or anything but i can smell raw gas out the exhaust. also the factory boost gauge goes halfway up at idle. is this normal? i read up and decided to check for boost leaks but i didnt notice any air blowing out anywhere that i could feel. also when im driving the boost gauge just goes up the more , like it just show how much throttle im using. is that how it works? please help me im new to having turbo car. thanks

check for a gas leak first, also check your air filter.. and the stock boost gauge does work with the thottle, get an aftermarket boost gauge

dont have a gas leak and ive repalced the air filter. also i have ordered a boost gauge. thanks for the help. any other suggestions?

When the car is idling the motor is under vacuum, not boost. So you’re not going to feel any air blowing anywhere. If you want to check for vacuum leaks what you can do is spray starting fluid or butane on vacuum line connectors. If the rpm's climb you have a vacuum leak there. Also check for burns in vacuum lines

ok ive checked the vaccum line to fuel pressure reg. its connected good. i will try the leak test. thanks for the tip. also is it a possible oxygen sensor problem?

can anyone come up wit anything else? i got a data logger and it shows my o2 is working properly, i read that the air temp sensor may cause a problem like mine. anyone else ever heard that?
