Rumbling subs

hey guys a have a sony cdx90 for the head unit with a acousic crossover with two amps a high amp and a low amp. im pushing two 10 jlw3 with a punch 250. the question i have is that everytime now when i use the cd player the subs starts rumbling without the volume up, like its distorting and it rumbles crazy, but when i switch it to fm/am the subs dont rumble. everything is fine with its on the radio, but when switched back to cd it rumbles and sounds very nasty. i think its the rca wires but it is bad wires shouldnt it rumble when the radio is on too? im stumped and would sure hate to bring it to a car audio shop and charge the shit out of me. please helllllllpppppp!!!!!!!!!! thanks any info is appreciated. cuong

Hmm I'm not sure what to tell you about that, except that it sounds like you are vastly underpowering your subs with only a punch 250.

agreed...sounds like theyre not getting enough power...try and borrow a bigger amp, also, make sure your power cable is big enough...at least 8 gauge

regardless of power wire size or amp output, your head unit sounds like something it wrong. (not saying the previous aren't important, just not what sounds to be wrong). If it was constant, than i'd i'd look at wiring. If it's only during cd playback, i'd check out the deck.

yea guys thanks for the info, i do have a small ass 16 gauge wire for the power and most of the time it happens, and it stops sometimes when i hit like a bump or a dip, then it will stop but if i hit another bump or dip it rumbles again. please let me know if this info is any good thanks reply asap. thanks cuong

16 gauge?! don't people learn how to install amps before they install them anymore?

hey it worked before fine with the 16 gauge wire. imma try to switch it out to 4 gauge and rewire the whole system to see if that helps. any other suggestions?

Change your power wire to 4gauge.

A Punch 250 personally I think is fine even tho JL's would love some more juice.
Check the ground for your radio since you said it happens after you hit bumps and junk.
Also make sure your RCA's aren't running right by your power wire because that can actually pickup interference but not as much as your talking about.

i dont think i have a ground hooked up to the radio cause the shop that hooked it up said it will start burning stuff. i tried hooking a ground up and it started smoking and wouldnt stay on. they said it is ground from the bracket and the metal piece around the radio. as for the rca wires i havent changed those yet. and remember guys this only happens when the cd player is in use and its fine when the radio fm/am is in use. thanks cuong

the radio can ground through the bracket - but should still be grounded through the wiring harness. if it's smoking, then you got the wrong wire.

yea it worked with the bracket grounded so i dont think its the ground. perhaps the rca and the power wire has somehting to do with it. but its weird how it only happens when the cd player is in use

I've installed my own stereo's and friend;s for years now, I know exactly what you're talking about. You're RCA cables is what is making the problem, trying changing them before doing anything else. I'm pretty sure it will fix it.
