Alright well i currently have a 97 eclipse rs and it won't stay running right there's something that keeps draining the battery but anyway I was looking to sell it and find something abit faster. I was looking at preludes but i like the eclipse and i found a gst for $2000 looks like it needs abit of work but not too bad. 95 Eclipse Gst OBO(NEED GONE)
my eclipse now has 95k miles on it i was going to see if he would trade or i could sell my car because i know someone that's interested. basically would you go for it or try to find something different?

alright thats what i was wanting to know and so i dont gotta make a new thread does anyone have any ideas whats wrong with my car?
the battery drains and whenever i go out to my car the battery is dead about 75% of the time
i had a sub hooked up but i have unhooked it to rule that out still does the same thing its a brand new battery i have not had the alternator tested yet but it'll drive fine even if the battery light comes on and it will most of the time charge the battery but then the battery light comes on.

If the light comes on its because the alternator isn't charging. Check your voltage at the battery posts while its running.

Possibly, you can test the alternator with a load test.

Have your battery tested at a autozone for free, also if you still have the cables in your car from your amp connected. TAKE THEM OUT!

I have a 97 Eclispe RS as well. I'm in the same boat as you... just want more power. If i knew about the different types of DSM's before i would have gotten a GS-T. Was going to do a motor swap but found out you can't fit a 4g63 in an rs... so im going to keep my RS as a daily driver and get a GS-T rolling shell and start a project car.

Wrong. A 420a @ 8psi is more powerful than a stock gst. I never said one was more reliable than the other.

Reliability is all in how you treat it. Both can be reliable.

I bought my car, repaired, did all maintenace and installed a turbo for the price of a gst. Not the best but there is pride in building something rather than buying. Its not for every one but I would recomend a 420a-t to anyone.

A 420a on stock internals would be a lot faster at @8 psi than a stock GST/X. The difference in compression especially off the line would very noticeable.

@ OP It sounds like you have a charging system issue. If your alternator is not putting out enough Amps at low rpm, it could still test as good @ autozone. My first 4g63 swap was having issues like that for 3 months. Battery constantly going dead. I upgraded the battery to the biggest one I could fit under the hood, and that battery last about 1.5 weeks before I had to jump it, finally the Autoparts store Clerk suggested I change the alternator, just after testing and it and it showing good.

He told me that sometimes they alternator will test good but, it is not putting out enough power @ low rpms. You might be able to drive around for a day or two but eventually it will kill the battery. Is that the issue your having?

Good back on topic this guyhas an idea. It would be best to have that alt. tested.
