rough idle / now missing HELP!!!!!

1992 Plymouth Laser RS

ok heres the problem.

day 1: car at a stop stalls, restart and it stalls again, won't stay on unless i give it gas.
(it's an automatic by the way, 1g non-turbo 2.0)

day 2: stays on at idle but after it warms up it surges (revs from like 750rpm to 1500rpm, over and over). Only when I am stopped.

day 3: now I got rough idle and sounds and feels like a miss until i drive about 20 or 30mph it seem to be ok but might still be there.

here is what i checked so far:

TPS - good and adjusted to be in spec.

new plugs - NGK and gapped to 0.039

ISC - both coils resistance all good (took off car and plugged back into harness, shaft only move like 1/8 of an inch in and out. IS THIS NORMAL??? )


I will be checking EGR valve, ignition wires, coil pack, oxygen sensor.


WHAT COULD IT BE????? PLEASE ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED....

This car only has 66,000 original miles on it.

I fixed my problem. Yous could be the same. I swaped ECUs and now my cars running 100%. I didn't think it was the ECU becuase i checked for blown capasitors and i didn't have any so i'm guessing I had a crack in my board. That could be your problem as well. Right now i'm running a 92 auto trans ECU and the car is running great other than my tach thats doing some crazy stuff so i am going to be searching for a 90 5-sp ECU. I am so happy to see my gas mileage back. When my car was running like shit and missing out I was getting 15 MPG highway but now with that computer i'm doing better than ever, but it has never been this good and i'm kinda scared that she might be going lean on me. Pure highway driving I got 34 MPG last night on my way home from work going 65. It has never been that good. I would look around for a spear ECU and try swaping those out that might be your problem too. Take care and i hope ya find your problem

Was the o-ring for the isc in good shape? You might want to check the FIAV as well.
