I'd appreciate any help you guys could give me on the problems I'm having with my '92 TSI AWD.
The car's been running really strong for the past year or so. Last week, it just started idling low & rough and wanted to stall. It had no power under boost. I did a couple checks & used my Pocketlogger to check out a couple things:

ISC - checked good except for coils 5-6 (open) I think it's been bad for at least a year.
Idle switch - good
TP sensor -good
spark plugs - looked pretty good
boost leak check - no major leaks - it does bleed down, but slowly
vacuum at idle - 18-19 in. hg.
When I decelerate, I only get 18-19 in. hg. vacuum - usually it dives below 25 in. hg.

On the logger:
(I disconnected the battery to see it I had an ECU glitch, so the fuel trims may not have shifted yet)
Idling from 600-1000 (a bit surgey & weak)
knock count of 43 whenever I give it some gas or the engine is under any load (this is real knocking - I can hear the pinging)
Oxy trim - 100-130
Med fuel trim - 130
Air temp - works fine
O2 sensor - jumping all over the place (normal?)

I haven't had a chance to screw with it this week, but I'm planning on checking my timing & maybe checking my fuel pressure. I don't think it's fuel because it doesn't stumble when I press on the gas, it just starts knocking like crazy!
Could a bad injector cause this? Any ideas on checking the injectors besides listening to them? But I'm thinking maybe my timing slipped because of the loss of vacuum while decelerating. Any ideas?

If you're using MMCd on your logger, you can test the injectors one by one with the engine running. Listen to the idle and watch the RPMs. If you have an injector that's not working, the idle won't change when you test that injector.

Sounds simple, but did you make sure that the injector harnesses are all fully plugged in?

Do you knock even at idle when you blip the gas?

It starts knocking a bit when I blip the gas, but hits a full 43 counts whenever the engine is under a load. If I baby it, I can keep it from knocking.
I thought of the logger injector test, too. I'll do it tomorrow when I get the time. I'm also going to check the timing - I'll report the results.

Bought a timing light from Harbor Freight for $13 (gotta love those cheap Chinese tools!!) & found my timing off big time. I guess I forgot to tighten the cam sensor nut when I replaced my throttle body butterfly shaft seals a couple months ago.
Thanks for the info, guys.
