Not sure what you mean by "bolt-in" because they all have to be welded in place. But, the cheapest pre-fabbed kit that I know of is the Competition Engineering kit.
This and this is what you need to complete the kit.

Keep in mind that it is 1-3/4" mild steel though, so it's going to be a bit heavier than your average 1-5/8" chrome moly cage.

By any chance does anybody have a pic of a rollcage installed in their 1G? I meant the one from DSMParts.com I have been looking at that one for a while now, but I probably not going to need it for a while.

Edit: Forgive me for my grammatics...

If you look at the mounting points, I welded it to the center crossmember.

The autopower ones are not NHRA legal anymore if i remember correctly. They use the wrong tubing and the pads are too small.

no they are not all weld in because my buddy has a bolt in cage for his acura integra.

Simply bolting in a cage is nowhere near as effective as welding in, and basically pointless in my opinion. Sure, you have a stiff cage bolted to several spots on the body, but a 2 pieces of metal, or contact points, bolted together, flex much more than 2 pieces welded together. If you're looking for the safety and stiffness of a roll cage, why would you stop at a bolt-in, and not go all the way and have it welded together. Kind of backwards thinking, in my opinion. I haven't been able to compare the differences, so this is simply just my reasoning. However, the 10 point roll cage in my fox body Mustang was welded in, and let me tell you, even in the tightest of turns, that car stuck to the road (granted, I had plenty of suspension mods), and the body didn't flex one bit. It was flat as a level, no matter how I drove the car. Given the choice, and my experiences with a car that had a welded in roll cage, I'd never waste the money with a plain bolt-in. That seems to me to be too much for looks. Seeing as how I'm not an engineer, anyone with the knowledge should feel free to point out my incorrect assumptions. I'm just saying I don't see the point in buying a roll cage that you're not welding in.

Seems most people are more concerned with passing a visable tech at the track (seems everyone but me is running 11.49 or quicker) than absolute safety.

I really like the one sbengineering has with the swingouts and removable rear bar that woudl (?) allow for backseat occupants. Are the side swingouts removable too?

Thanks,

I left the side swing outs, as swing outs, although i have a enough hardware sitting around to make them removeable. I did however, find on DSM's that the front attachments points are fairly weak on a DSM, so i needed to reinforce them to the sill pillar.

The rear bar is removable for rear passengers, although the only people i can see fitting in that little space are 105lb girls;)

And on a side note, all the hardware for the swingouts cost more then the cage.

Is it a roll cage or a roll bar?
What is the tuning material, diameter, and wall thickness?
Is it NHRA legal?

Even if you were to use four 3/8" bolts to bolt your 6x6 plate to the floor/frame, you would still have to weld your tubing to the mounting plates as well as welding tubing to tubing. My point is that no real roll cage will be a direct bolt in for a DSM. A roll cage is not a bolt-on modification. You buddy's tubing contraption is probably just for aesthetics.

all the tubing and bars are welded. i dont know what the diameter and thickness is, should just be mild steel for material. i get your point about this topic i just wanted the throw it in that his is bolt in and his car is a low 11sec car so its not for looks.

By reading how it's mounted, it doesn't look like it's for GO either.:talon:

But can it pass NHRA inspection?

my guess:notgood:
