Rod Choice...opinions welcome!

Hello everyone, I'm kinda stuck on which set of rods to purchase. I know I havent heard hardly any bad things about Eagle, which seems to be the go to rod choice for us DSM'rs....but I have been looking at Manley rods as well...some people have said to go with Manley over eagle....which I know its pretty much personal preference, but has anyone used Manley? Both are around the same price so no issue there...Im turbo'ing my 420a and only going to run 10lbs on it so the boost isnt the concern....just looking for longevity and what not...thanks guys any input would be apreciated

I run Wiseco pistons with Manley rods..I haven't had any problems boosting to 20 psi.

If I'm right the Manley's are a little lighter aren't they? I don't know if you're going to go get everything balanced or just go for the install but I've heard the Manley's are also a more well balanced right off the self.
I personally have Eagle but that's just because I found a good deal on a Wiseco Eagle combo and I was getting the whole thing balanced anyway.

Yeah im def. having everything balanced, crank re surfaced for the specs of the rods (if anything for some reason is out of whack). Just wanting to make sure I get the best I can for the money that is being spent since turbo'ing these 420's is a small fortune ... so I should go with weisco and not JE for my pistons?

sorry for the noob questions gentalmen im sure of my choices 90 percent of the time but when i see the total of my shopping cart when i go to check out i start second guessing myself figured i may as well see what you all had to pitch in

well i found both manley and eagle for around 350..manley is a little more but if they are better i wont mind spending the extra....the more and more i read up on them and think about it...ill probably go with manley

You can run 10 psi on the stock block, with a t25...

H-Beam rods are A LOT stronger than most people think. They will also bend instead of snap like most other "stronger" rods. You only see H-beam failures because 90% of what is built out there use these rods. And, most of the failures are at the rod bolts. If you can get any peice of advice, it is not to skimp out on rod bolts. Get the better, more expensive ARP bolts. With these and a proper tune, H-beams should last comfortably up to 650whp.

Eagle seams to be making the best of the h-beams. I have heard the manley's will break before the eagles do. Remember, anything of the same shape/form is weaker if in fact the weight is less.

I run je piston and eagle rods with no issues at all. There's a thread on here about I, and h beams it talks a lot about structural strengths. I would read that and decided. Both brands of rods are excellent but I think je is a better piston imo.

I run Arias pistons and eagle H beam rods, car makes over 800 crank HP and has over 20k miles on the build. For what your doing if you can save few dollars by going with eagle rods you will not be disappointed.
