Just out of curiosity, i was wondering if anyone has ever replaced rod bolts and rod bearings from underneath with the motor in the car. Of course, i mean with the oil pan off, motor in top dead center, timing belt off and etc. In theory it would seem possible, but i was wondering if anyone has attempted it and succeeded. Thanx.

i've done rod bolts a handfull of times with no issues, its a pain in the ass but it can be done

Its been done. Why would you want the timing belt off? With it on you can rotate the crank to get at another rod end cap easier. And then you could rotate the crank more to get it out of the way of the rod to get the top bearing off.

I was thinking in the way that, if the cams were put on top dead center( all valves closed) then i could remove the belt and just rotate the crank. That way, i could push the connecting rod up to get to the connecting rod bearing on top without hitting the valves.
