Rock hit windsheild, small pit, any fixes?

I was driving down the highway and the car infront of me kicked up a small rock and it hit my windshield and put a small pit in the window. Is there anything I can do to fix it or keep it from getting cracking? Think my insurance will have it replaced? Thanks.

Check the auto glass shops in your area, they'll know your insurance situation better than your agent will.

They make kits for doing it yourself, and depending on where on the glass it is, and how the chip is, it may help in preventing it from "growing".

they can actually fill it in too, my dad got a pretty big one and had the auto glass place fix it and you can barely see it

As Defiant suggested, check out the phone book for auto glass places. They know their stuff. I had my CRX windshield replaced years ago for well under $200. Prob more now. They did it right in the parking lot at my work in about an hour. Thats the worst-case scenario.

If it's not cracked, you can prob have it repaired instead.

If it does actually crack, it's usually just a matter of time before you'll have to replace it (it'll grow), as it won't pass a state inspection once past a certain length.

Not sure about your area, but here in AZ they have these little stands at places like Circle K and that all they do is fix your window chips. You have to be careful though, becasue they will bill you insurance and if you dont have that coverage then they will bill you. They were going to fix my truck windsheild and I called my insurance guy. He told me that I dont have the coverage they need and that I will end up paying for it in the end.

Well I got it fixed for free, the insurance will cover it. Cost $50. He took a little drill and drilled the crack a little, then took some liquid, filled the hole in, and placed a uv light over it. Then took a razor and scraped it off. I can still see the damn thing though but atleast it's filled and shouldn't spread. I think he could have done a better job so that it would be less visable but whatever.

Thats lame. The guys here do it and you cant even tell that is had a chip in the first place. I would go back and tell him to fix it and if he doesnt then I would T-Bag him.
