So I turn on my car after coming out of Auto-Zone. Idle starts f'ing up. surges up to about 1200 rpms then drops to 500-600 then back up and back down again. So I pull outta the parking lot and in 2nd gear my car starts to stutter horribly. It feels like it bucks when I get on it - at about 4k rpms theres a feeling like the car is pulling back - like as if I downshifted to slow the car down, and then the picks up again and jerks violently. Any ideas? This car is starting to p!ss me off!

:talon:

Thank you oldman for digging up those links! I saved them to my computer.

also.. The location of that lost sensor plug leads me to beleive that is where my knock sensor would plug into if my car was a turbo model??

Buying all this little stuff for the car here and there is really breaking the bank.. I may have to park my car a couple days and wait on a multimeter. (40 bucks at radioshack?)

Um, who would buy a DVM at the 'Shack anymore- isn't that just an outlet for overpriced RC toys and telephone extension cords?

LOL. Try here only $2-3 dollars usually for a decent working DVM.

I have two of these around the garage and in car for emergency troubleshooting (and yes, I also love and cherish my $400 True RMS Fluke DVM, which is worth every penny.)

Maybe it could be as simple as changing your fuel filter. Sounds to easy I know.

Already did this

WTF so how long as this secret been kept! LOL thanks so much.

No problem, here is the rest of it. http://www.vfaq.com/FAQlocator-index.html

Now go play on the hills behind Sea View Square Mall. :D

:sneaky: its not fixed just yet!

-Nobody knows if the TPS off a 1.8 will work on my car?

:talon:

SO heres the big update! ...Changed AND Adjusted TPS, problem still persists.

I'm thinkin ECU? CAS? theres a definite misfire so maybe ignition?

guess I'm on my own from here on.

:dsm: :barf: <-- how I feel about my car right now.

I pulled out my radio to find out that the ecu in my car is not the original.

Could the ecu be causing this problem?

is there way to check to make sure the ignition is firing right at high rpms?

I dont think theres anything wrong with my ignition (if it was wouldn't my car mis-fire all through-out the rpm band?)

I'm getting another engine code. This time it's #24 (vehicle speed sensor). Could this be the root of my problem??

I havent replaced the ISC because I dont think fuel cut is associated with that. I have changed the pvc valve, maf, vacuum line to the fpr, fuel filter, tps. My problem still persists and I can smell fuel in my exhuast. I couldnt get my ECU open to check it because the screws were too tight and stripped.

To repeat the problems:
1. Bad idle, seems like a misfire at idle.
2. Fuel cut @ 4-5k rpms at anything above about 60% throttle
3. Fuel smell in the exhuast

*Not to mention my gears are starting to grind more making for a HORRIBLE driving experience all together.

I'm buying a datalogger this weekend so that should lead to more information.

There is a DEFINITE fuel cut around those rpms because I can hear the fuel pump relay click right before it happens.

I195 west - I295 north - Rt.33 - quakerbridge rd. Should take about an hour but you have a NT so it could be 2. :p

Cue Bridge Billiards, 3257 Quakerbridge Rd. Trenton NJ.

is this the exact address?

LOL 2 hours sounds about right seeing as how can't rev past 4-5k rpms
