OK tonight im on the way home from the girlfriends house and the weirdest thing happens. Turned onto my road and i stepped on my carfrom 1st to 2nd and 3rd. As soon as i hit 3rd i looked down at my cluster and my brake light and battery light is on. Then i noticed my power steering was not working. Then my temperature gauge rose. Now its late and wet outside and idont feel like messing with it too much so i'll ###### tinker with it tommorrow but does anyone have any idea what may have happened. im thinking i broke a ground loose but i dunno. The car starts up and moves like nothing is wrong,

Something similar happened to me once. I was driving my girl friends moms Lincoln Continental, power steering went, cluster started going crazy. Turns out the alternator was on its way out. All I remember is going 55 down a back road in that big boat of a car and losing power steering.

I would definitely say that you broke your accessory belt, it happened to my friend and same stuff happened. Battery light came on because your alternator is not turning and recharging the battery, your power steering is not pumping, and worst of all, your water pump is not pumping, which is why your temp rose. Quick fix, buy a new belt.

actually dude i was just thinking about a belt. i know how my honda is ran but not so much this one havent paid too much attention. Is there a belt that runs the alt. and water pump together? But why the brake light?

i would say your main crank pulley broke or so because if all of it is gone then it broke

but that is just what i say because if it was just the altenator then he would have power steering or if it was the power steering then the batt. light would come on.

but if it was the ac belt (if he has it) then his ac wouldnt work

but no he has ALL of those symptoms i would say the crank pulley

but i would replace all of the belts and then if it happens again then i would say replace the crank pulley

When the alternator stops making juice the radiator, battery, and brake light come on. I guess they thought that combination people would intuitively think "my alternator is not producing current!"

You either broke a belt or your crank pulley separated. If it's the crank pulley, get one from mitsubishi, anything else is rolling the dice. Also, don't drive it around, you might overheat.

So yeah im at work right now but before i left for work i got a chance to pop the hood on my car but it was still dark. I managed to see that the belt for the power steering was completely in tact still. Weird because i have no power steering. I was just thinking about something tho. I remember being able to take the ground off the battery cable by hand and i meant to by a new terminal and replace it but i never did. This could be causing this im thinking, but would it cause the power steering to fail? Does the power steering have a sensor to it that could fail from a bad ground. Because if not don't think the power steering would go out because i didnt think it had anything to do with electric. I guess i'll really be able to tell completely once i get home and am able to see everything in the light LOL.

^^ i think hondas are way much complicated IMO. but good machines too LOL. but anyways what motor u got in there?

It's an easy job. Hardest part is getting the belts off.

1. Jack car up
2. Take wheel off
3. Take splash guard off (3 bolts)
4. Take belts off
5. Take crank pulley off (4 bolts)
6. Take off old pulley and put new one on
7. Reverse steps 1-5

Ok guys i got a chance finally to see what it was. The belt that runs the alt. and water pump is completly gone LOL. Anyways now that i found this out whats the easiest way to put the belt on this dsm? Any suggestions? Also is there other things that i should replace while its off besides all the other belts?

Everything is fixed now. And yes there was squealing in the belt started about a couple weeks before it broke. But i assumed it was either a little too tight or too loose because it seemed to only do it when it was raining or humid outside LOL. Guess i was wrong LOL
