[RESOLVED] Valve Cover Hose loose...where to plug in?

just let it hang towards the ground, or just pull off the hose and buy a breather filter.

Do not do this. It needs to be hooked up and if you put a breather filter on it, you'll have oil all over your engine bay since there's a bit of oil that goes through that line. Which is why it's recommended to put a catch can inline.

And if there is nowhere on the intake to plug the tube into?

If you have the stock intake pipe, there should be 4 holes in there for different lines. The intake should have 2 holes on the back side of it (towards firewall) - one for charcoal line and one for valve cover line. You should be able to figure out which is which because of the size.

+1. Those breather filters are all show. Put one on then check your oil pan a month later to see all kinds of cool shit in there.

just make a catch can thats what i did, its out of a pop can just drill a hole in the cap put the hose from the valve cover into that. I know its not perfessional but im a broke kid.

Or a Husky air filter found at your local HDR.

I would suggest a catch can. Thats what i did.

This still doesn't solve where he should connect the hose. I agree that you should connect a catch can to this line as well, but first off... it should be sealed and not a vented catch can, and second... it needs to be connected to your intake. If it's the stocker, hook it back up. If it's a hard pipe with no nipple... tap one in. This is crucial to allowing your PCV system to work properly.

DO NOT JUST RUN THE HOSE INTO A POPCAN OR ANY OTHER 'CATCH CAN'.... IT NEEDS TO BE ROUTED TO YOUR INTAKE PIPE.

No, it should not be a sealed catch can. The valve cover line should remain in its stock form, from the valve cover to the intake pipe. The catch can should be placed inline.

That's exactly what I was saying. If you read the second link to "Stupid PCV Question" you'll notice that I've posted many, many times in this thread and that I have a very good understanding of how the PCV system works.

A sealed catch can is one that is NOT VENTED to atmosphere. A vented catch can usually has a breather filter attached to the top of it and can still be ran inline, but is also VENTED to the atmosphere. Your stock PCV system does not work this way... so, as stated before: Either connect the hose straight to your intake pipe or connect it to a SEALED catch can and then connect it back to your intake pipe. Either way, IT NEEDS TO BE CONNECTED TO YOUR INTAKE PIPE.

no crap that was already stated so i didnt need to go into detail so chill out, i did it to my car so i think i know it works
Please use proper grammar, punctuation and capitalization when posting in the tech sections.

There is a huge difference between what works and what works optimally. Do you realize that you're pulling in un-metered air through your PCV valve during vacuum conditions? Have you checked out what comes out of your pop can when you empty it? Have you ever open your oil cap and check out what's going on inside your crankcase immediately after boosting? Have you experienced dipstick pop out? Have you wonder why your oil breaks down so quickly and it smells like fuel all the time?

The prosecution (or as butthead would say "prostitution") rests. :D

In his defense, if the soda can is not sealed, he'll only suffer the unmetered air during vaccuum conditions problem. The PCV will still ventilate the crankcase, and the breather will still relieve crank case pressure. But I agree that folks shouldn't disable any part of the PCV system. The "Stupid PCV Question" thread says it all if you can stay awake long enough to read it all.;)

1. We still have yet to find out if his pcv is still intact, most people who are willing to vent the breath are equally willing to vent their pcv, most likely to the same pop can, I was one of them.

2. Very often venting (passive venting) alone doesn't not relief pressure quickly enough compares to active venting via vacuum in the intake pipe, most that are popping their dipsticks have their breather vented.

3. Thank you for the correction. ;)
