Has anyone ever tried Silver stone crossed drilled rotors and pads? I found them on Ebay and for all 4 wheels (rotors and pads) 135.00. I just purchased them to give them a try. For that price I can't pass it up. I just wanted to know if anyone else has tried this product.

For now it is a DD with some weekend racing so hopefully they will work. Eventually it will be just for racing but that's not for a while.

Has anyone ever used these? Or know anyone that has?

If they are on eBay and are that kind of a price for F&R rotors and pads then you can expect to get what you paid for. They are probably made with a very soft metal and are going to warp easily and the pads are probably none to great themselves. If you google them there are a lot of other people that have asked about Silverstone brake stuff and every forum has pushed them away from getting them because of the quality. I would just go with some new rotors from Autozone, NAPA, or one of our fine vendors and get a good set of Hawk or EBS pads. 90% of the cars out there with cross drilled and slotted rotors will never be exposed to a high enough brake temperature to even need to benefits of a good cross drilled and slotted rotor. My advice. Search THEN buy.

Dont use cheap rotors. Cheap pads are one thing, but dont go with cheap "performance" rotors. Wasn't there a guy on here a few years ago that completely totaled his car (and was lucky he didnt die) because his cheap rotors failed while driving?

My buddy had a cheapo rotor set up in his car, he drove it really hard and the front right exploded. I have the pictures on my drive somewhere. Anyway there was a warp in the casing and it cracked and exploded. Fun times, expensive repair, lucky he didn't kill himself.

Lesson learned.

I never heard of them. Not saying that they might not work well for you, but I would not personally put my life in the hands of a product that I have never heard of that is that cheap. A lot of ebay parts can be hit or miss, but I wouldn't take the chance on brakes.

Thanks for the advice. Guess I've got some more junk to add to my collection in the garage. I'm getting RRE to dyno tune my car next week I guess I'll just get some from them. I was a little suspicious of them for the price and now I really am since no one has even heard of these before. Thanks Again

I was also looking at using these roters on my 07 mini cooper s. and wasnt sure till one day while filling up gas i saw another mini and we started talking and he had a set on his car. hes taken his car to the track onces and this is what he had to say.

1, they are cleaner than the stock mini pads,
2, the rotors seem good, but the pads suck, he has to push harder and there isnt the same "bite" as the stock roters.
ps, "the stock mini pads rock,,, they are just very dirty"
3, he has had them for about 60k and the roters still look like new, the coating they put on the rotors really lasts.

so what i got from his is, he would buy the rotors again but would pass on the pads as they dont seem to have the same stoping power that he was used to. might want to try stock or EBC, im not sure if thats the right company but its something like that EBS. " you know the guys with the red green and yellow pads. LOL" hope that helps.
