I've searched the forums and the tutorial guides on here. I cant find anything unless im just blind. btw, imnot blind. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone could post some good details and what is needed to relpace the radiator. I have a 1990 GST that needs the radiator replaced. I have a radiator out of a 1994 N/T GS that I want to put in the GST.

Just curious how long it may take if by myself, what all tools are needed, what I need to take off, and where the bolts/screws are that I need to remove.

Any good info would be great...

Thanks

p.s. pics would be very helpful...

You simply unbolt the fans (4 bolts per fan) and unhook their wiring. One major wire to either fan and a smaller one to the drivers side fan from the temp sensor in the bottom of the radiator. You then drain all the fluid and disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses (just worm clamps, easy). Lastly you unbolt the mounting brackets at the top of the radiator (there are 2 with 2 bolts a piece). Lift it out. You could also leave the fans bolted on and just unplug the sensors.

Swap over the temp sensor and fans and reverse the instructions. Be sure to fill it well afterwards.

i figured it would be easy, i just wanted to be 100% sure..

cowboy, you make it sound so easy that a monkey could do it, i guess that means I should be able to, LOL jk...

thanks for ya'lls help, anybody else with more good info is welcome...

This is an aftermarket radiator install, but it's basically the same procedure; it also has good pictures. Shouldn't take more than an hour, I just did this the other day. Good luck.

Also, when you do this, it would be a good opportunity to change the t-stat. Go to Advance and get a Stant 180 degree t-stat.

EDIT: You don't have to take the fans off before you pull out the radiator; you can pull the radiator/fans out all together.

It is. If I ever have to remove it to do something (usually for pulling the engine) I don't even bother to plan or account for the time. It's just fast and easy. I do, however, count the cost of fluid, because I'm too anal to reuse it no matter how clean my drain pan is.

*edit* Don't get frustrated if it takes you a little time and effort the first time around. It always takes longer the first time.

Hey, I just wanted to thank all you guys again. It was my first time swapping radiators, for that matter even taking a radiator out. It really didnt take no time, I woulda actually done it faster than I did but I had a bolt freaking break. But it still only took me about 45-60 minutes by myself. :thumb:
