I feel a little dumb asking a question like this but I just wanted to find out what other guys are doing. I installed a 5 inch tach, and 3 gauges. boost, oil press and a/f ratio
where are you guys running all the wiring and vac lines through the fire wall. I'm thinking once I install boost timer etc etc... there is going to be a nice mass of wires to pass through the firewall. My intentions is to have a clean install. How many of you drilled a seperate hole and where did you put it.
Pics would be nice if you got them thanks in advance.

You'll find that while racing, optimal hand placement would be left always @ 10o'clock, and right @ 2o'clock while between shifts. This not only allows you best control of your vehicle, but you can see the existing dash gauges as well.

Most guys run their accessory wires through the steering boot without issue. Add some extra electrical tape to the point where they pass through the boot. Also, you will notice many other preexisting grommets that you could add wires too, or you could drill a new hole through the firewall - be aware of where the bit will pass through the firewall, though, as to not damage the brake booster or other vital components.

IMO, the best and the safest place to drill & run stuff through the firewall in a 1G is either of the factory MT or AT cable locations... The firewall is only x1 ply and you can run anything from multiple 1/0 AWG wires, to vaccum line, to misc wiring.
Obviously, you'd want to pick whatever location (yes, the 1Gs run the MT and AT cables in from different places in the firewall) you are not currently using... Once you blast a hole (a Uni-bit or step drillbit is a great weapon of choice) be sure to use a plastic grommet to further insulate your additional stuff from the firewall metal. Lastly, both of these locations will be hidden behind the OEM firewall insulation... It might be a good idea to go visually confirm these locations on a boneyard car (preferrably one that does not have a motor in it).
Enjoy
