Hey Guys, I did a search on why my PS was squealing, didn't really find what i was looking for. According to the search alot of time its a leak. I don't see any leaks anywhere. So what i'm asking is what are some things that would make the PS pump belt squeal. I tightened it and it was no help. thanks alot.

I would say that the belt is worn out and needs to be replaced but that just me Im still new to this

the belts could be wet or maybe ## ps is goin out??? i would drain the system n put some new power steering fluid in it... put some in the empty resivor and start the car up and have someone in the driver seat moving the steering wheel back and forth.. but dont turn it all the way till it stops... and make sure that you keep the resivor full as the person is turning the wheels

Ok, well I tightened it last night and it was extremely tight. I dunno how much tighter i should go, I'm scared it'll break. I put it so It will move up and down 1cm up and down. should i go as tight as it'll go?

Dont overtighten it or it will increase waterpump wear. Try starting it up and while its spinning spray it with brakecleaner and see if the noise goes away for a little bit. if it does, that means that something has contaminated the belt and it will need to be replaced again.

I'm not Sure. I'll check it out. Today when i started it there wasn't any squealing at all. I talked to my dad and he doesn't think it's that problem. He's sticking with the" The power Steering pump is getting ready to go." I picked up a new belt as because i've been told, once a belt slips once, it will become glazed over, and from then on it will always slip. So i'm going to try a new belt tonight. and we're going to Check the Harmonic Dampener. Thanks alot guys. This Site is a life saver.

Well, I tightened the belt, and the squealing went away. Haven't heard it but one faint time on startup. Other Than that shes good. Thanks guys.
