[RESOLVED] Ordered OEM clutch kit, disc too small.

So I ordered an OEM clutch kit (it was free). When I went to install it, the pressure plate clicked in, but the disc would just sit between the plate and the flwheel, very loosely. There's about an inch of free space so the disc just moves around.

My mechanic thinks that it's because I have an aftermarket flywheel.

I had a clutchmaster 6 sprung kit in it before.


Any educational suggestions are obviously welcome.

Generally, most aftermarket flywheels have the same step as a stocker, .610-.612". It really sounds as if you received a 1g n/t clutch kit. The n/t uses a flat flywheel with no step.

Pardon my newbieness;

By step, do you mean the on side of the disc that extends about 1/2" (goes against the flywheel).

The step is the difference between the disk surface of the flywheel and the pressure plate mounting surface on the flywheel. This article will explain all about the step.

Tomorrow I'll order another clutch kit, from a different vendor. If the disc is too small again, then what's going on?

From what I can tell, it is nothing but a case of the wrong clutch kit.
