[RESOLVED] No connection on datalogger

My car currently wont start so i borrowed a datalogger from a friend to check the cel code, the software it has is pocketlogger and is registered, it worked fine on the other guys car. I've plugged in to the obd1 port and put the power wire to a spare fuse location and turned the key to on, it worked once when i hit the fuel pump relay button but then every time i hit it again or others it says to check the connection and try again and it will not show the codes. Everything was connected. Any ideas what could be wrong? Thanks

I had a similar problem when the ecu in my 91 took a dump,tried checking codes and no info being sent back.i took my ecu out and opened it to discover the caps leaked and burnt the ecu.

well it got a connection long enough to pull codes and i got 8 different ones. I check the the ecu and there is deffinately some bad things going on.
