read through 6 pages of results using mmcd in the search engine. Saw 1 or 2 where people were having the same problems as me but none were brought to resolution. I have a palm m515 with mmcd loaded on it. bought this cable to plug into the palm RS232 Serial Cable for Palm m125 m130 m500 m505 m515 - eBay (item 130212396968 end time Apr-12-08 23:38:46 PDT).
And then I bought this cable to go to odbI eBay Motors: DSM 1G Mitsubishi Datalogger Cable Eclipse Talon 3000GT (item 180230952417 end time Apr-09-08 12:35:00 PDT). so connected the cables, go to log, and nothing:notgood:. Went into test mode, and then the dreaded serial comm error:cry:. Any and all input is greatly appreciated.

When i first got my palm and loaded MMCD on it, i didnt know any thing about using it. Plugged it all in and wasnt getting any readings. I come to find out that when you start the mmcd program and you see where it says RPM, INJP, KNCK, etc etc. I found out you have to highlight the read outs you want it to log. so if you want to log rpm and knock. tap each of thoes they will turn black. check the box next to where it says log, then uncheck the box where it says pause. This was my issue. I dont know if that is yours for sure. But i saw no one had replied for you yet and thought it was worth a shot. Let me know if this helps you.

Yeah i got that from the 137 plus threads I read, I do appreciate you chimeing in though. But my problem it seems is that the Palm and the ecu arent communicating and for the life of me I cannot figure out why

Finally figured it out, I know many people are using mmcd 1.8 with no issues, so that wasnt the problem. palm to serial came from palm itself so little chance of that being bad this left the ebay odbI cable. So I decided to check for continuity in the cable. Showing no continuity, I knew the ebay harness was the culprit. The guy who made it used some kind of universal pigtail containing three wires. Opened one end up yellow and brown are Soldered to parallel port, blue is unused and is just clipped. Bue and yellow are connected to odbI so i simply soldered the blue in place of the brown one and works like a charm. So for those of you buying the ebay odbI wire if you should happen to encounter problems, check to make sure this might be your problem.
