[RESOLVED] how to disconnect parking brake from rear hub (2g awd)

Can't seem to find this info anywhere:

How do I disconnect the hand brake line from the rear hub assembly in a 2g awd car?
Please note that my bearing hub is stuck on the axle, so I can't pull the hub out (I'm removing the whole knuckle to get the axle pressed out).

I should clarify: the hand brake is disconnected from the shoes (the whole show assembly is out), but the line won't pop out of the knuckle. Do I just need to pull on it really hard to get it through, or is there some trick to pulling it out?

There is a retaining clip from out side did you remove it?

If you are referring to a litte U shaped wire clip, then yes.

I'm unclear of what exactly is supposed to come out - does the wire and spring come out through the metal "tube" that guides it through the knuckle, or should that "tube" also come out?

If the tube also comes out, then I don't see what the wire clip is holding. If the tube stays in, am I somehow supposed to pull the rubber insulation off of that tube? I assume this isn't the case because how would I get that rubber back over the tube?

The tube stays in, its welded to the parking brake back plane. And yes the rubber must get off from the tube.

If you have removed the hub assembly, first mount the praking brake back plane (connect the wire and rubber), then mount the knuckle and then mount the hub again.

I hope i haven't missed some thing its along time ago, i did this.

OK, thanks for your help.

Maybe this sounds stupid, but how the hell is the spring going to get through the tube?? I'm looking at it, and there is noooo way that spring is getting through that tube...

EDIT: There is a metal "ring" right where the rubber ends - does that come off with the rubber, or is that just a stopper for the rubber?

EDIT again: nevermind, rubber came off after some prying. The damn cord still won't come out tho...

Sorry I can't remember another ring just the one retaining clip. I think its a part from the tube what you are refering to.

holy crap, on a scale from 1-10, 1 being easy and 10 being death, that was about a 12.5.

I almost destroyed the cable, and i was yanking on it so hard that one of the welds on the tube broke and it started to pull out of the knuckle. The weld on the end held it on though, and i just hammered it back in.

The "ring" is part of the ebrake cable - the rubber doesn't have to come off at all...you just have to yank out the ring where the rubber ends. It is part of an "inner tube" inside the knucle tube with some o-rings on it, and that whole tube comes out. I had to hammer in some of the spring from the other side of the tube using a flathead screwdriver to push it through (pulling wasn't working).
