I put everything back together on my 6-bolt 1g, and when it was time to start the starter wouldn't crank. So i put 12-volts to the starter directly from the battery to get it to crank so the starter was working. After it built fuel pressure and fired up, it INSTANTLY bounces off the rev limit for 16 whole seconds, right after it started i disconnected the battery but it kept going and going, flames were flying out the exhaust.

My diagnosis was that the TPS was not installed correctly so the ECU thought the throttle plate was wide open, but it was closed, so it was completely running rich nothing but fuel. I have this whole scary event on film too! Please help me out guys

I can't =/ It's on my jvc camera, and without the firewire hardware i can't upload it to my laptop. So unless you live near Olympia washington you probably will never see it. Have you had this problem before? I'm waiting till tomorrow for my aldl cable to come in so i can view the throttle position sensor voltage on the laptop using Tuner Pro. If it's not the TPS then i'm pretty sure i'm screwed. I have a new MAF on and everything.

Mods are:

NGK standard gap plugs
NGK wires
Dejon intake w/k&n filter
Huge fmic with hard pipes
Greddy BOV
Completely removed emmisions systems(EGR,EVAP,A/C,and the solonoids that control them)
Ebay tubular header
Massive o2 housing-3" megan downpipe-3" CXracing catback(fwd)
Greddy turbo timer

I think theres a few others, I'm at work so I'm not by my car right now.

And the starter problem is a first for the car, I tested for voltage at the "S" prong on the starter solonoid. So to start the car i put 12 volts to it while turning the key. From there it started and flew to redline....WTF is wrong!?

ok well i don't have ABS, or cruise control, I have the single throttle cable, and i took the cable off-then started it and it still nailed rev limit. and no i didnt adjust the BISS, just put it in far enough so it won't fly out again. It's not all the way in either.

You need to properly adjust it. Instructions can be found in your Haynes/Chilton manual. Also, make sure your idle control motor is good.

Put your hand over the throttle body. If it still does it, that will let you know that it is sucking air somewhere after the TB.

:cry:Ok I haven't gotten the time yet today to pull the throttle body off, when I get home from work I will, and ofcourse i'll update on if I find anything. (which i doubt i will). keep giving me possible ideas to check please guys

yeah i'd definitely say try putting your hand over the inlet of the throttle body and see if the engine dies. If thats so then you obviously have a huge air leak somewhere in the manifold.

ROFL :hellyeah::thumb::applause::ohdamn:

ok guys, sooo i'm an ass...

I took the Throttle body elbow off and bam, the plate was caught on the tps..so i fixed it all up, started the car, test drove it, and holy ####ing helllllllll!!!!!!! no engine light even, bobby idle ### nothing is set, but afr's are flawless, and a bran spankin new clutch just feels amazing. I love you guys for helping me out i seriously thought my computer was ####ed somehow or anything. But i re-fell in love with my machine. GOODNIGHT!

The video is super sad and scary haha. And it was in the garage so it's like suuuuuuuuper loud. But it doesn't seem that cool now that it was just the throttle plate ;) Now i just have basic things to fix like the exhaust rattling...? previous owner ripped out the stock exhaust brackets and rubber so i'll hit the junkyard for those. I really don't think i'll be able to upload this video and it is on a mini DV from my jvc camera.

I REALLY hope that you had primed the engine with oil before the inital start up. Otherwise, might as well pull the pan and replace the rods and mains before they screw up the crank.
