Started my rebuild for the first time today, have only one issue to sort out. Turn key starts immediately, a/f reads 14.4 and idles at 1000rpm. When the rpms are increased slowly to 2000rpm the car shoots down back to a 900rpm with a 17.8 a/f, tapping the pedal fixes this and brings it back to idle. Also revving quickly to 2500rpm or so is fine, it can rev past 2000 but not slowly and I have not revved it past 2800.
What I believe the issue is: The vacuum solenoid for the egr valve is missing its electrical connection which is leaving the egr valve open, I believe at that rpm it is recirculating creating the lean condition. Please confirm or deny this theory but I am making a egr block off plate tomorrow to get rid of the open valve, I was planning on deleting it anyway.

I am not sure if this is going to fix my problem, if anyone has any other things to check let me know. I haven't found anyone with an issue with the same symptoms so it could be something else also.

Thanks!

I may know what your talking about, I have heard something clicking that is located above the EGR, however I think I have fixed the issue by simply replacing the downstream O2 sensor. The car runs great and I need to solve a simple brake issue and I'm down the road.
