When i turn the car on and release the e-brake my light stays on even while i'm driving. there is no fluid in my resivior either, so i have a leak right? but the car is parked in the same spot everyday and the car is hardly driven much. I see no wetness anywhere. i also topped off the resivior about 2 months ago. the brake pedal feels fine aswell, and i still stop on a dime! ps i have the 2g dual piston swap on my car (front only) also i have ABS.

Fill up the brake fluid reservoir. Without fluid in the reservoir, you run the risk of sucking air into the brake lines. That would not be a good thing, especially during high speed or emergency braking. You could end up hurting yourself or someone else.

The light should go off once the fluid is topped off. If you filled it up recently and it's now low, you most certainly have a leak somewhere.

Also, if the light does not turn off when the fluid is refilled, check your fluid level or parking brake switches. Either one could be faulty.

my 2g did the exact same thing one Monday morning before work, i figured id look at it that weekend... by Saturday morning what started as my e-brake light turned into my battery light, turned into my every light on the dash... it was crazy. went to auto zone and got a new alternator and fixed it. at first i thought it had to do with the ebrake but its mechanical... id say have a shop check your alternator or just replace it if you've got a lifetime warranty?

Fill your brake fluid reservoir, there is a switch in there that kicks the light on when the fluid is at a dangerous level. Your are going to have to check for leaks whether it may be the master cylinder, lines, proportioning valve, or calipers. Something is losingt the fluid somewhere.

filled the resivior last night. My alternator is practically new. I was thinkin the e-brake switch might be at fault too. I'm going to check for leaks when i install my tein springs. where is the e-brake switch or this wire that may be loose

There are two things usually that will cause a brake light to come on.

1. Your e-brake.

2. You brake reservoir. If you fill it up and it doesn't go away, then your sensor floater in the reservoir is stuck.

Reread my post. I gave a hint as to where it could be.

That red BRAKE light is NOT just for the E-brake. It is a warning light to check the Braking system INCLUDING the E-brake. Kinda like a Check engine light for the brakes.

There should be a rubber diaphragm on the top of the brake reservoir lid. Make sure that diaphragm is pushed back IN towards the TOP of the lid so that it sits flat in the lid.

That rubber diaphragm could be holding the floater DOWN. The floater in the reservoir is what trips the switch for that red light on your dash. When fluid gets LOW the float DROPS and triggers the switch. The Rubber diaphragm will slowly move DOWN with the fluid to take up the space as fluid levels drop in the reservoir . This way air wont get in the fluid.

They feel fine now but when the light was on they were a little soft, i topped it off and the light went away. What i ment by the diaphragm comes right back out is when i push it in, it comes out before i can screw it back on
