alright guys I have a 1991 Talon and i have a smoking issue i cant figure it out. The car smokes only when warm. The turbo has no shaft play, the compression is 160 across the board the car is running extremely rich 81.2% LFT. The color of the smoke is dark blue and it smokes at idle and while revving. The PCV valve is new and works good. That leaves the valve stem seals or turbo, the turbo has zero shaft play and i believe if it were the valve stem seals it would smoke worse on start up( on initial start up there is no noticeable smoke). The motor has 110,000 miles on it, that i know of. So my question is am i over looking something?

EDIT: I forgot to mention before i got the car it had sat for two years, which could cause the valve seals to harden up. With no smoke on start-up its hard to believe it could be the valve seals.

well the car has no oil in the lower intercooler pipe, rings can't be bad with perfect compression, also almost no smoke when the car starts after it has sat for days

Check the oil return line to send if it is clogged and fold. If not then it maybe the turbo seals.

Im going to check that today, also i think i can test the seals by taking the downpipe off and looking for oil in the o2 housing, then taking the exhaust manifold off and checking the exhaust runners. If the turbo hot side oil seal is bad then there will be oil in the o2 housing, if the valve stem seals are gone then there should be oil in at least one of the runners. does this sound right?

If theres no in your intercooler pipeing that pretty much eliminates the turbo. Sounds like worn valve guides and valve seals. If only valve seals are put on with worn guides the seals ussually don't last very long. It takes a little time for the oil to seep down onto the valve which is why it does it when its warmed up a little.

well i just got back from my shop, I took the manifold off the turbo and wow the first two exhaust runners were just covered top to bottom in oil, the last two were partially covered. so i'm guessing the valve stem seals are shot from sitting so long.
