1998 Ford Escort ZX2 with ztec a interference motor?

Timing belt went, and is now missing, so far i looked and i am getting a 50/50 mix saying this or that...

Is it a interference motor?

No it is not. Check out this link: Timing Belt Information

Loog under the applications. If it has a * next to it then it is an interference engine.

i've seen those belts break and take out valves, it IS an interference motor

Go figure...


Again 50/50... guess ill have to pull the valve cover and look at the valves if i see any not closing all the way or stuck i know its not good.

Did you look at the handy reference sheet provided above? It's an interference motor. Solved.
