I just replaced my clutch and I'm having a hard time getting the tranny back in the car. What is the best way to put the transmission in while the car is on jackstands? I can't slide it in because there is a bracket and other stuff in the way, and I tried with a friend to lift it while it was under the car and that didn't work out... any thoughts?

Take a floor jack to support it and a lot of luck or do what I did the first time ... take the trans and lay it under the car. Then lift it about a foot high and slide one of your wheels under it with a board on the wheel. Then just keep adding or removing boards until it's level with the engine and you can just slide it over or whatever and in.

The second time I just let the engine hang by the one mount over by the timing belt ... then used a large floor jack and jacked it up and slid it on. ( This is a pita because you don't want the trans to fall off the jack )

The last 5 times or so I got smart and spent the $40 on a transmission adapter for a floor jack and just used that. The only problem is the car has to be pretty high off the ground for the trans and the jack / adapter to fit under the car initially, but it'll be well worth it and very easy to do even by yourself.
