ok i have some bad boost leaks an Iam thinking about making my own hard pipes now my question is what size pipes should use (i wanna use the stock pipe that holds my bov) and where can I get good resonably priced couplers? thanks

Did you test where the boost leaks are coming from? You can find replacement hardpipes for your stock smic from any of the major dsm vendors at reasonable price. They also sell some on ebay but i have no personal experience on fitment

all the pipes are cracked so iam not gonna even waste my time yet. I dont have a big budget to work with an I know i can make my own pipes for alot cheaper

For couplers I usually use semi truck radiator hose. Its like $12-15/foot and will give you 3 4" couplers. It is very thick and can handle 50psi plus. Then you also dont have to wait for something to be shipped. You may want to consider picking up a front mount for cheap and building your pipes off of that or supra smic.

There are quite a few writeups on installing one in this site as well as vfaq.com. Its pretty stealth and gets the job done on a budget.

I really never see them for less than $100. If your good at fabrication, look into an evo8 fmic, ive seen those really cheap! You could buy a core from ebay as well. Some are junk and some are made well. Most likely youll end up going with fmic in the future, so you may want to consider doing it now

On my last 1g, I actually used a hahn racecraft smic for 2gs. With some cutting I made it work. I was impressed with how well it worked for a sidemount

that is true...now the question is what size core is best for a 1Gb (as far as fitment)

Do a search but it depends on if you want to retain the crash beam in the front. Ill just throw some numbers out there but maybe 31" end to end, 3"thick and 7''tall with beam and 12" w/out. I would think the evo one should work well up to 350whp

I also use semi truck radiator hose, i can get it at my autoparts store and depending on size they usually have it in stock.

As mentioned above. If you are going to be upgrading your pipes might as well get a few pieces of hard piping and couplers and custom-make one yourself and get a cheap core off of ebay.

yea i just dont like the 90* bends...that projects has are those safe to run? i mean my freinds 97 GST kept blowing his off (it sucked bad too) as soon as he hit full boost (22psi) it pop off an run like crap

Get a good set of 4-ply couplers and pair them up with t-bolt clamps, tighten them good, and you should have no problem.

We sell 2.5" 3-ply silicone couplers for $5 a piece :)

Shoot me a PM if you need any.

Haven't popped one off yet. You could also buy some of vibrant's close radius 90* bends and have them welded to the intercooler. The only thing I suggest is that if you make something custom make sure to get the pipes beaded so that the couplers don't leak.

Your best bet would be to weld all of the piping so you dont have to worry about the blowing off of piping, if not get those 3 ply couplers, they are very good and will hold alot of boost, but for the best go with 4 ply.

Right now i have the A/C fan wired up(threw the relay) to come on with a switch i have inside the car
