Well I think its coming down to this for me as I can not figure out a way to get rid of the sqeaking coming from my rear shocks. I want to replace bushings such as the pad that sits on top of the spring, the bushings that go on either side of the mount, the dust covers, etc. My question is, does anyone know where I can pick these things up for a reasonable price, and would I need to go to Mitsu for them since they are just pieces of rubber? I don't want to spend too much on them but I know the car could use new dust covers in the back, bumpstops, and the rubber piece that sits on top of the springs was pretty ugly looking when I did them. Also, if someone has a suggestion on other stuff to do while I'm at it would be good. I've searched Autozone, Kragen, etc and can't really find the components necessary...to bad they don't make an overhaul kit for the strut/shock assemblies =(. So where....?

I would be surprised if the squeaks are coming from the upper spring isolator, bumpstops, or dust-covers. Please tell us what you have done so far to track down and fix the problem. I would not want you to take your whole rear suspension apart only to have the same noise when you're done.

Well I've torn it down about twice now to see if I could figure out the sqeaking and the only things that looked trashy were the bushings. The dust covers for instance were very hard and probably weren't doing their job right anyway, I've wanted to replace them since I did it, I just don't know where a good place to get them from is. The upper spring isolaters also looked really cracked and smushed I would say, so thats why I thought they might not be working correctly as well.

I just tore everything down yesterday because I had to cut the bump stops in the rear which I didn't do when I installed them. I sprayed the rubber pieces on the shock assembly down with penetrating oil and haven't heard a sqeak yet, so hopefully this will help to fix the problem. I still wouldn't mind changing the dust covers though, to help prolong the life of the shocks.

just maybe its not your shock and struts that is the issue.. look at the bushings all around the suspension. its always something that you didn't suspect.
