My timing belt broke at 60mph in my 2.0l NT 92 Laser RS. Took the head off, pistons were pretty banged up. I've been looking for a used engine to put in it and have been able to find a good deal (around $300) on a 1.8l from a 92 Laser roll over. I'm wondering what sort of complications putting a 1.8l in a 2.0l car may have and if it would be worth it.

My goal is to just get the car running so it can become my daily driver again or to sell and get rid of it. Thanks for any help.

As far as the 1.8L swap, I would recommend against it. I have never heard or read about anyone doing it, so I'm not sure of the possibility and/or procedure. But it is definitely a downgrade.

Try calling salvage yards within a 2 hour radius. It shouldnt be too difficult to find a decent N/T block. Worse case senerio, just have yours rebuilt.
