hey guys....i was wondering if anyone in here has or knows somone who has done a motor swap from a 1.8 to a 2.0???? i'm building up a 2.0 n/t into a worked 2.0 turbo'd. just seeing if anyone has dropped a 2.0 n/t into a 1.8 body. thanx :talon:

wont be that hard but you might want a 2.0 harness and ecu. mounts should bolt right up, most likrly will have to change the tranny though

well i have a complete 2.0 car where i'm getting the motor from so...i have all of that stuff.
but you said that i'll have to change the the tranny??? gears ratio'd differently?? :talon:

i have a question also, im planning on doing the same thing, i know ill need to get a ECU, wiring harness, etc, mounts, but what else, will i have to get new guages. what is EVERYTHING i will have to do, id like to know asap. my 1.8 died, with 205K proud miles... plus my tranny is a b**** to get in reverse, plus when in ger i can move the shifter about an inch to each side and that lessens while you move to the right.... what do i need to do about that, just tighten it up, i know i need to get a new clutch. Plus when it did run, it was jerky, but only in 1st and 2nd gear. like it pulsed its power, wasnt running "straight" like on power, off power, on power, etc. tranny or just dying engine? thanks!

hello???, someone please answer, my 1.8 DIED, i have NO CAR! I need help!

um no offense... but u didn't sound like u took care of the car very well... which leads me to believe ur not the most mechanically inclined individual... which leads me to recommend that u just dump another 1.8 in there... that's just me though...

sorry if i should like an a-hole... not meaning too, i jsut read that this swap is not as easy as it sounds

i bought it with about 210K, drove it for a while, and it died, im not too bad at cars, i kno what some of the problems could be... right before it died, it had black smoke, it was running rich, but also theres gas in the oil, could be caused by either a bad head gasket or bad ring(s), had blue smoke only temporarily, then went away after a little bit of running, bad valve guides, i just need to know what ALL i need for an engine swap, ive never had to do that before...
