Repair of Body Molding Tabs?

So I noticed a couple of the body moldings are abit lose. When I removed them I noticed a couple of the tabs that hold the clips are broken. Some the tabs are just split & one is missing a portion of the tab itself. I'd like to repair these, to install new clips but wasn't sure whats best to use?

Thought about fiberglass but then wasn't sure how well it would bond to the plastic, over the long term. So how is everyone repairing these tabs?

Looks like the top portion of the moldings are also held on with double sided automotive molding tape, so was going to try & find some of that as well.

I'm thinking some of the body molding is held on by double sided tape from factory because my car has the same thing and I've seen it on other cars as well. It doesn't seem to be some sort of ghetto rig. Have you checked local auto stores for clips? They sell door panel and body molding clips there, but I don't know about our cars.

I have heard of people successfully using JB weld to repair the tabs.

JNZ Tuning has them just shoot them an email or a call. 1.60 each I think but OEM. Advanced auto sells the tape but it is to wide. Cut it in half and it works perfect just like stock. I cut the whole roll in half and made 2 rolls. Mine had a tab broken on each side but with the tape and new clips in the ones that were there you couldnt tell at all. How many tabs are broke on yours?

He's not talking about the clips, he is talking about the tabs on the skirt itself that the clips slide into.

The double sided tape your looking for is 3M body molding tape you can get it from any auo parts store or lowes or home depot any place like that. I was looking at it at lowes last night and I know it's roughly $10 for a small amount. And the clips I'm sure you can pick tem up at a napa or autozone somewhere.

Thanks for the reply so far, seems some of you are getting mixed up on what I'm saying as Black Widow97 has said.

If you've seen my car, you'll know I'm abit OCD, , so I want every repair to be as good as OEM or better. The OEM clips aren't a problem, already got all them from Mitsu. Also just picked up some 3M body tape.

The problem is the tabs on the molding themselves. Worst is probably the drivers door molding, it has two split tabs (one split when I was removing before I realised how fragile they were) & one tab that has half missing. I could probably get away with just putting new clips in all the good tabs & using the tape but, like I said I want it done right & want all tabs to be properly holding the clips as well.

So I need to know the best way to go about repair the tabs themselves.

There is a two-part epoxy made specifically for urethane bumpers that would probably work great for repairing those tabs. Here is a link to the product. I used this stuff to "glue" in patches on a bumper that had holes in it a few years ago. Never had problems with it cracking or warping.

Thanks, I'll check that stuff out. With searching I also found 3M makes some bumper specific epoxy (but you need a gun to apply) & SEM also makes some that comes ready to apply.

The body shop that just painted my front bumper for me uses the 3M stuff. That too is very good quality. They had the gun and mixing tubes needed for it though.
