i hear that someone removed their o2 sensor fom the o2 housing, and the car pulled much harder, is this true, or possible, doesnt it throw a wierd code?
is it ok to run like that?

your o2 sensor is there for a reason, it tells the engine what type of air/fuel ratio is being used. if it is unplugged, it will throw a CEL. i would consider getting new friends or dont trust everything you hear. the search button along with common sense will help you in the long run :thumb:

Technically, it won't hurt you at WOT. The ecu doesn't look at the o2 sensor at WOT because narrowband o2 sensors don't react fast enough. It just reads off predetermined tables set at the factory. Now, whether removing the o2 sensor will put you in limp mode on an OBDI car I can't remember.

However, it will hurt you at cruise/part throttle. Without the o2 sensor plugged in, it defaults to reading lean. This means the ecu will add tons of fuel to try to make up for it. When it doesn't think it's richen'd it up any (because the o2 sensor isn't there) it adds more fuel. It keeps doing this until it simply can't add any more fuel. This will obviously kill your gas mileage and possibly fuel soak your oil if it got rich enough.

Oh, and to answer your question, removing the o2 sensor won't help performance in any way.
