Remote Start Defogger Question

I have the Viper 5701 Security with Remote Start installed and I am looking for any advice about how to hook up the rear window defogger/defrost. The installation manual shows there is a (-)200mA output that is to be used for the defogger, but I believe I need to use a relay to utilize that output.

Has anyone done this or know how the defogger switch in a 1g works?

You are right the 5701 does have that output it is a blue/white wire you will need a relay.200 ma will not drive the rear defroster that wire is also 2nd stat wire and it will need to be programed to be rear defrost or the rear defrost will be on every time you remote start. I have done this on a 2g before but not a 1g so you will have to test the switch to see what it outputs when turned on.

Could you not wire it that way ^^^^ but use a on/off pole switch to allow the current to make it to the rear defrost circuit?

Keep it on for the winter and turn it off for the summer.

If the rear defroster was on everytime I remote start, that wouldn't bother me at all.

Ok then it's not a big deal all you have to do is not change that setting the blue/white outputs ground just before the car starts.I was just saying that's how it would work and as for a switch yes you could very well do that also.I think if I were to do it that I would put the switch in between the blue/whit wire and the relay because that would be the lowest current wire.

I know this is an old post... I have a 2g and installed a viper 5701.. In the manual for the aux outs it does say that you need a relay however with the defrost it does not mention this.. is there a way to wire this option into the cars rear defroster relay that is already used in the car? (Im assuming there is a relay already set in place) If so.. where is the relay located and what wire do I tap into?? If not any suggestions on how to wire up a relay and what wire would i tap into with the relay im installing? I have looked around and found nothing on this.. I have done many instals but never installed the defroster till now..
