What are your thought of this? Do they hold up well to constant abuse? Would you trust them in your own car? Discuss please...

Personally, id trust them. A lot of race cars use em and have good results. I personally have been looking into this same topic lately (using the search function :p ) and have found there to be no problem. It really comes down do personal preferance. Im going to be getting the FFWD DKS cams pretty soon. They come with a 1 year warranty, HKS cams dont. I dont know many other performance parts that come with a warranty, so they have to be of sound make.

Regrinds are only as good as the way you run them in correctly and degree them in right! i have no problems with running them and at $65 dollars a grind you can try ten different grinds for the cost of HKS!

you can get your stock 1gcams reground?

where is a place that could do that?

is there a limit to the grind?

I have FFWD regrinds in my stroker motor. Had them in about a year now, and no problems whatsoever. I trust Darren at FFWD. He knows more about building 4g63's than pretty much everyone on this board. If he is willing to stand behind them with a one year warranty, they must be a solid product. When I got my cams, all that were available were the Level I's. I will soon be stepping up to the DKS 272 grind, and I am sure I will have no issues with them either.

Grind limit is relevant to the base circle and how big of a cam you start with, I know you can get a 272 grind on a JDM VR4 manual cams,

I read the few information around here about the DKS cams, because I'm still up in the air about getting cams. I know I want cams, but its just a matter of smog. Anyways, if you do a search, people who have no experience with them, like what it comes to most things people don't have personal experience or havn't done research on, do not recommend them. However, the people who run them seem to have no problems and stand by it. Also FFWD Connection has been around for a while, and as stated if they back that product up, I would get it a shot.

I mean for a set for both HKS 264/272 (which the DKS cams are identical to) new for half the price, when I finally decide to go and get cams, I would prob. really consider the DKS.

I had a regrind in a dirtbike once. it seemed to hold up very well. it was aircooled and not a roller cam either. It was somthing huge like 285 duration at .050". even with the meanest valve springs i could find it held up well. it used to eat the sub rockers but they didn't touch the cam.

science ours are a roller cam motor I think they ought to hold up really well. even if they dont at $65 you can replace em a few times before youve spent
as much as hks's cost.

I have a set of the DKS2s. I've had them for a few months now and they are holding up great. I would definetly buy them again. Best bang for buck I've spent. Also, as said above Darren knows his stuff and seems like a very trustworth and honest business man.

I love my dks2`s the power curve is alot like a vtec turbo.

I'm looking at these cams also. Would like to know tho should I go with 2-272's or a 264 and 272 with a 60 trim in a 98 gsx. Got dsmlink, external 38 wg, with 880 injectors, 3" exhaust. Just put an Act 2600 clutch in it also. Any help would be great. Didn't want to start another thread. Vic

I have looked into ffwd's regrinds and i can say when it is time for cams i would go that route, but I have a question. I see that earlier in the thread someone spoke about $65 dollar regrinds per cam. FFWD's set is less than half of HKS. How are they $65 then, or is that only if you sent in your cams to them and had them reground? Just curious.

Go with the 272s, expecially with that setup.. Theres quite a few members that wish they went with 272s from the start.

Sorry for bringing this thread back.

I was wondering If I can regrind my stock JDM VR-4 cams to HKS 272/272 specs.

There's a reputable machine shop near our place and used to do cam regrinds.

What do you guys think?
