I am having my engine rebuilt and i was told that i can not take my motor passed 5500 rpms with stock internals, at close to stock hp. Thats not jsut for the break in, he said never take it passed 5500 rpm ever, is this crap or what let me know what my engine can take. Its being rebuild from the crank up, it will have 0 miles on the engine.

ps, how much power will i gain from boreing 1 mil. over, stock rebuild and a 5 angle grind job? thanks.

well if you cant go past 5500 rpm then i must have a 1 in a 1000000 car, because i take it 7200ish when i race.

the guy thats rebuilding the engine said if i take it to redline more then once he said it will spin a bearing again and that doesnt make sence. I know what the redline is but the guy that is rebulding my engine said that the stock internals wont handle anythnig passed 5500, will i be alright to drive passed that or what?

After you get the motor good and broke in, you should not have a problem, but dont start going nuts on it untill it is.

Go Get Your Motor From Him And Find A New Engine Builder Asap!!!rofl Rofl

Seriously though, the guy building your 4g63 doesn't sound very confident in his abilities to build a motor. 5500RPM? Who is he kidding???

If your engine blows past 5500RPM, its because he built it wrong.

He jsut thinks it cant handle it, because he said its not a race engine, he didnt say not to redline it when he gets it build he said you shouldnt do that ever and thats why the stock motor spun a bearing. so he said if i redline on this engine to many times it will spin a bearing as well.

When you break it in after the rebuild, you shouldn't rev it over 3000 rpms. Break in period is roughly 1000 miles. After that you should be able to rev up to 7000 rpms no problem.

I thought maybe this would help.

I will be using this process of a "hard" break-in on my probe. the idea with his theory is that it helps to seat the rings into the cylinder hone and will result in a longer lasting, more powerful engine. about the not revving past 3,000 on the break-in, I don't see why not. and I agree about finding a different guy to build your engine if he doesn't think you can go past 5500rpm.

The guy as been in buisnees for 20+years. I have only heard great things about him and his work. I just think he dosent know to much about the engine. Most of the break in work will be done before i get it
