I recently did a trannie fluid change with Redline MTL, everything seems to be going fine, but the Mitsu dealer (seattle, WA) that is replacing the master cylinder, and gaskets, bla bla bla, mentioned that redline will not provide adiquate lubrication, stating that the fluid is much to thin.

My question is if anybody has had experience WITH Redline fluid (good or bad) as right now i would turn to syncroshift (which I have now read many rave reviews about) if there is a not so positive spin on the Redline MTL.

thank you for your time.

i use redline gear oil in my read diff, but i'd stick with bg synchroshift/pennzoil synchromesh ( $4.99qt. @ autozone ) in the tranny and xfer case. If you are running Redline MT-90 then you're probably fine - but synchroshift/synchromesh has been proven - and why go against the tide on somethin' like that?

Redline has an excellent reputation, and not from thin air. As with most synthetics and semi-synthetics, the only valid "criticism" of them is that they're expensive. If you call Redline, they'll recommend specific blends of their products for different applications (gearbox, tansfer case, rear differential). RRE also has tips on their site.

For value, Pennzoil Synchromesh is unbeatable.

And dealers..... well, I don't think much of most things I hear from dealers. It seems to me that everything they have to say has a deeper meaning- and they mean to make money off you. If they took good enough care of the cars they work on, why would anyone need a new one?

I use Redline products and love them. Jason at F2uning had it in his car. He was doing a rebuild and decided to tear into his tranny. AFter sitting for months when we got it apart, there gearing and everything were still coated with the fluild. I was surprised! :thumb:

A few local guys recently switched to Redline in their transmissions and love it. They're using a mix of 2 quarts of MTL and 1 quart of 1 quart of MT-90. Fill the tranny and put the rest in the transfer case.
